World Puppetry Day at the Jansen Art Center features ventriloquist Ellie deVeer (Bellingham’s Got Talent winner), FireFly Productions, Peregrine Puppet Theatre and more! $10
World Puppetry Day was established in 2002 by UNIMA, the Union Internationale de la Marionnette, a non-governmental organization affiliated with UNESCO, and has been celebrated around the world since 2003. Bellingham celebrated World Puppetry Day for the first time in 2019 in partnership with the Alternative Library where the three-night mini-cabaret sold-out all shows. Local volunteers, performers and arts groups came together in late 2019 to plan a Bellingham World Puppetry Day celebration with the goal of increasing awareness of the artistry and technical advancement of puppetry, and to demonstrate that this art form goes well beyond childhood play.
